Information from provider

ProviderKari Alitalo
Provider affiliationResearch Programs Units, University of Helsinki
Genetic informationDeletion of the Bmx gene.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous:
No obvious phenotype in unchallenged knock-out mice (Rajantie et al. 2001). Decreased tumor growth and tumor angiogenesis in several experimental tumor models (Holopainen et al. 2012).

Heterozygous:
In DMBA-TPA induced skin cancer model: no significant changes between Bmx+/0 and Bmx-/0 males. Increased tumor growth in Bmx+/- females but decreased tumor numbers in Bmx-/- females compared to Bmx+/+ females (Holopainen et al. 2012).
Breeding historyOriginal background DBA/2, backcrossed into C57BL/6 at least 8 times and further into FVB strain at least 5 times.
