Information from provider
Provider | Winfried Edelmann |
Provider affiliation | Albert Einstein College of Medicine |
Additional owner | Prof. Winfried Edelmann, Department of Cell Biology, Department of Genetics, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, U.S.A. |
Genetic information | The targeting construct was derived from 129 DNA BALB/c genomic DNA and it was designed to introduce a 2.0-kb BglII PGKhygro cassette within exon 18. Targeting was done in WW6 ES cells and produced a mouse with no functional Msh5 protein. |
Phenotypic information | Msh5-/- mice are viable but sterile. Meiosis in these mice is affected due to the disruption of chromosome pairing at zygotene stage of prophase I, with apoptotic elimination at stage IV of the epithelial cell cycle. |
Breeding history | Mice are currently inbred of the original strain provided by the author, crossed for at least 10 generations. |
