Information from provider

Provider affiliationIBENS, Ecole normale superieure
Genetic informationThe cre ORF was fused in frame to the first 82 amino acids of mouse Phox2b by recombineering in BAC RP24-95M11. The recombined BAC was microinjected into (C57BL/6 X DBA/2)F1 blastocysts.
Phenotypic informationPhox2b::cre BAC transgenic mice from founder line BAC1 direct Cre recombinase expression to all cells that express or have expressed Phox2b or descend from Phox2b-expressing progenitors. In the central nervous system, these cells include the branchio-visceromotor neurons, the noradrenergic neurons, the neurons of the nucleus of the solitary tract and of the retrotrapezoid nucleus and a subpopulation of serotonergic neurons. In the peripheral nervous system, Cre expression is directed to the sympathetic, parasympathetic, cranial sensory and enteric ganglia. The Phox2b::cre mice may be used to generate conditional mutations in neurons involved in the control of blood pressure, heart rate, autonomic regulation of breathing, feeding, digestion and taste perception.
Breeding historyOutcrossed for at least 10 generations.
