Genetic informationThe murine Hgf cDNA cloned in the pBI-eGFP vector was used to generate the bidirectional Hgf-TetO-GFP responder transgenic line. After breeding of homozygous mice with alphaMHC-tTA mice the double transgenic mice express HGF and GFP in the heart.
Phenotypic informationThe double transgenic mice show decreased cardiac contractility when Hgf is expressed during embryonic/neonatal development. No overt phenotype when Hgf is expressed during adulthood.
Breeding historyThe Hgf-TetO-GFP; alphaMHC-tTA double heterozygous mice were intercrossed to generate mice homozygous for Hgf and heterozygous for alphaMHC-tTA (homozygous alphaMHC-tTA are not viable).
