Genetic information | A targeting vector, containing the cre recombinase-encoding sequence and FRT-flanked kanamycin resistance gene, was inserted into a BAC clone carrying the murine Cr2 (CD21/CD35) gene. Kanamycin was excised and CD21-cre BAC was microinjected in mouse zygotes. |
Phenotypic information | None. This strain expresses cre recombinase under murine Cr2 (CD21) promoter. When crossed with a strain containing a loxP site-flanked sequence of interest, cre-mediated recombination results in deletion of the targeted sequence specifically in B lymphocytes and follicular dendritic cells (FDCs). This strain represents an effective tool for the generation of cell-specific targeted mutants. |
