Genetic informationExons 2-6 of the Endo180 (Mrc2) gene were replaced with a PGK-neo cassette. The deleted region includes the N-terminal cysteine-rich domain, the FNII domain and the first C-type lectin-like domain. A truncated transmembrane protein defective in collagen binding is produced but is less stable that the wild-type receptor and is barely detected in the adult animal.
Phenotypic informationHomozygous transgenic mice are viable, fertile, normal in size, and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. These mice express GFP in all tissues examined. Expression levels vary between certain hematopoietic cell types. GFP expression is uniform within a cell type lineage and remains constant throughout development. T cells have a 2-fold higher GFP expression than CD19+/B220+ B cells or peripheral blood cells.
Breeding historyBALB/c Endo180-DeltaEx2-6/Endo180-DeltaEx2-6 mice were backcrossed onto BALB/c UBC-GFP for 5 generations. The strain is currently maintained on BALB/c. This strain is maintained by mating a homozygous carrier with a BALB/c mouse. Expected coat color from breeding: White.
