Information from provider

ProviderThierry Heidmann
Provider affiliationU805 INSERM, Institut Gustave Roussy
Genetic informationIn the targeting vector, the syncytin-A ORF and surrounding sequences were generated from 129/Sv mouse DNA by PCR. The targeted allele contains the unique syncytin-A ORF flanked by loxP recombination sites allowing its conditional excision.
Phenotypic informationMice with conditional alleles: no obvious phenotypic defects. Mice with syncytin-A knock-out allele (after cre recombinase-mediated excision of syncytin-A ORF): embryonic death of homozygous null embryos at mid gestation. Impaired placental syncytial formation and trophoblast differentiation.
Breeding historyStrain is maintained by crossing heterozygous mutants with 129/Sv mice; approx. 4-5 generations.
