Genetic information | Targeting construct is derived from 129 DNA. The deletion spans all the repeats known in the Emu-Cmu intron leaving intact the necessary elements for accurate splicing of mu transcripts. The homozygous mutant mice are generated by a targeted mutation of the TCR alpha gene, by insertion of a neomycin-resistance cassette into the exon coding for the extracellular C-alpha domain, via homologous recombination. |
Phenotypic information | The homozygous animals show elimination of alpha beta+ cells and the absence of thymic medullae. In contrast, they present a normal number of gamma delta+ T cells. |
