Genetic information | MCK-tTA/mdx mice contain the muscle specific creatine kinase (MCK or CKMM) promoter driving the tetracycline transactivator (tTA). |
Phenotypic information | MCK-tTA mice contain the muscle specific creatine kinase (MCK or CKMM) promoter driving the tetracycline transactivator (tTA). These mice were bred onto Dmdmdx mice and then mated with mice containing a utrophin transgene which is inducible by the withdrawal or administration of tetracycline in drinking water. Under these conditions the MCK promoter gives a mosaic expression of utrophin at levels which significantly improve the pathology of the Dmdmdx mice but do not entirely prevent the dystrophic symptoms. |
