Genetic information	Mdes4kb-Cre transgenic construct bears a 4.6 kb EcoRI/SalI desmin promoter (from -4005 to +608) and a cre recombinase gene with a nuclear localization signal. This 4 kb upstream region of the murine desmin promoter directs expression of the cre recombinase gene in the heart from E7.5 and in skeletal muscle and some vascular smooth muscle cells from E9.5.
