Genetic information | Transgenic mouse line expressing Cre recombinase in 5-HT1A receptor-expressing neurons. The 5-HT1A receptor ORF was substituted for that of Cre recombinase in a BAC containing the 5-HT1A receptor gene. The BAC construct contains 42 kb of DNA sequences upstream the 5-HT1A gene and 136 kb downstream. The "humanized" cre gene (iCre) was used. The transgene makes use of the endogenous polyA signal. In adult transgenic brain, Cre expression perfectly matched the distribution of 5-HT1A receptor mRNA. |
