Information from provider

ProviderMary Lyon
Provider affiliationMRC Mammalian Genetics Unit
Genetic informationThis stock has a single base-pair change in exon 2 of Crygs, crystallin gamma S gene (MGI allele ID:1861635), resulting in the formation of cataracts. The stock has been made homozygous for CrygsOpj and has also been cleared of the Pde6brd retinal degeneration allele.
Phenotypic informationHeterozygotes demonstrate opaque secondary fibre junctions. Homozygotes are at first like heterozygotes, but progress to total opacity by approximately 3 months of age.
