Cre and FLP Driver Lines

The cre/lox and FLP/FRT technologies are two genetic tools designed to allow both the location and timing of gene expression to be closely regulated.

EMMA offers a variety of cre and FLP recombinase driver lines to work with the extensively used cre/lox and FLP/FRT recombination systems:

The EUCOMMTOOLS project created over 200 cre driver mouse lines where tamoxifen inducible cre expression vectors have replaced the coding elements of genes with restricted tissue expression. All EUCOMMTOOL cre driver mouse lines are generated on a pure C57BL/6N genetic background making this a unique resource for world-wide researchers.

Important information for users:

Prospective users of any recombinase driver strain are advised to check in detail the associated literature data and available on-line information, regarding the tissue/developmental stage specificity, level of expression of the recombinase protein, etc., as driven by the gene promoter/transcription construct of interest.

For further information, references can be found on-line, e.g. PubMed ID 39011108, PubMed ID 32027825.

In particular, the Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) resource provides extensive and accurate summaries of the recombinase alleles driven by a specific gene of interest, comparative views of the resulting recombinase activity in the different tissues/organs, the associated references and additional information.
